Should You Slow Down or Speed Up?

What one word does General Electric's chief, Jack Welch, think is the key to success? He says, "Speed is everything. It's the indispensable ingredient in competitiveness. Speed keeps business and people young." I agree. Conventional wisdom says, "Life's pace is getting ever crazier. Slow down--you'll avoid mistakes and live longer." But many contented people I know thrive on speed. It seems the more they do, the more they feel they can do. Not only do they do more, they seem more pleased with their life.
