Staying Up During a Job Search

By Marty Nemko

Think of your job search as a trip to the mall. Your "mall" is your target career's milieu. You shop around that mall by reading, internet searching, asking people for guidance on where you might find something that fits, and sooner or later, you find something good. If you think of your job search as a mall visit, it creates the right mindset: only moderate preparation, plenty of exploration, trying stuff on, and enjoying the process, even if you don't end up buying anything for a while.
