Cube Comforts

By Marty Nemko

How to make cubicle life more livable for you and your cube neighbors?

  • Decorate: Plants, pictures, posters, fish, whatever will put your individual mark on it.
  • Consider: Everyone within a three-cube radius will hear your conversations, even hear whatever smells may emanate.
  • Insulate: When you don't want to be interrupted by your co-workers, put a do-not-disturb sign in front of your cube.
  • Of course, nothing can make a cube feel like the corner office, so see if you can get your boss to allocate one private office for cube denizens to use when needing some peace and quiet.
What can you do today?
What's one thing you want to do to enhance your cube life?
