Don't Be a Mouse Potato

By Marty Nemko

Sure, the Net is a fabulous job search tool. Electronic discussion groups allow shy people to network. (See Google and click on groups for a master list.). Employment websites like www.monster.com (500,000 job listings) and Craigslist.org (specializes in Northern California), make it easy to find on-target want ads. But don't be a Net Nut. To get a job faster, spend no more than 1/3 of your job search time online. The rest should be spent contacting your personal network and dream employers. And yes, reading the want ads and career section of the newspaper.
