Electrician: Watt a Shocking Career

By Marty Nemko

I'm shocked that more people aren't becoming electricians. It's among the best-paying careers not requiring a college degree--watt a deal. Many electricians plug in with an apprenticeship. And job prospects are spiking--the Department of Labor projects strong demand for electricians through 2008. A final shock: electricians are seriously injured by electricity at only half the rate of the general population. Just don't be color-blind: All electrical wires are color-coded! Become an electrician: it just might light up your life.
