A Fast Way to Check Out a Career

By Marty Nemko

Many career seekers won't take the time to thoroughly investigate a prospective career before selecting or nixing it. So, here's a not-optimal but fast approach.

1. Search on your career's title on google.com. Visit any websites that sound interesting.

2. Check out any information on the career at career information portals: www.rileyguide.com, www.acinet.org, or www.careersonline.com.au.

3. Does the career still appeal? Use the career as the search term on Amazon.com. At least skim the book that seems most interesting.

4. Does the career still sound good? Go for it.
