Habla Ingles?

By Marty Nemko

The need for English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) teachers is growing. Immigration continues to jump while the alternative to ESL--bilingual education--has been largely outlawed by California voters. ESL teachers are hired by K-12 schools, community colleges, adult schools, and by corporations for their immigrant employees. A career as an ESL teacher is often gratifying because most students are motivated to learn the subject--unlike some subjects I can recall taking.
