Is Your Work Station Safe?

By Marty Nemko

An ounce of prevention can be worth a ton of cure.

What can you do today?
I want you to honestly answer yes to all these questions:

  • I take a few-second break every minute I'm using a keyboard or mouse.
  • The top of my monitor is at eye-level, 15-25 inches from my eyes.
  • My monitor is placed to avoid glare. If necessary, it has a hood, even if it's just cardboard.
  • I use an ergonomic keyboard or slant it so the keyboard's top is level with or slightly lower than the bottom.
When typing from documents, I use a copy holder attached to my monitor.
