Neat Niches for Photographers

By Marty Nemko

Many people would love to be photographers but are afraid they'll starve. The solution: carve out a good niche. My favorite is birth photography. It amazes me that life's most awe-inspiring event, childbirth and the day after, is rarely photographed professionally. Try to get a hospital director to grant you the right to offer photographic services to expectant parents who will be giving birth at the hospital. My second favorite photography niche: rock bands. Aspiring rock stars love to have pictures of themselves--yes, for promotion--but also because the enlarged pictures will look cool on their bedroom walls.
