Originality is Overrated

You have a great idea for a new business. Suddenly, you hear that a similar business exists. The natural reaction is, "Darn!" (or something to that effect.) In fact, the smart reaction is to be pleased. If a business has been around awhile it's reasonably successful. Also, it represents a vital source of information for you. Check out the competitors, incorporate their best features, and open your business in a prime location. Sometimes, prime doesn't mean downtown. Jon liked to train corporate employees in communication skills but found the market saturated. He went to Poland where, following Communism's fall, corporations are ramping up. Jon is now a wealthy man.
