A Personalized Approach to Getting Unstuck

By Marty Nemko

Are you more rational or emotional? Rational people often get unstuck by making themselves look forward. For example, when tempted to stew about "that jerk who fired me," rational types stop themselves, remind themselves of their goal, and take a baby step toward achieving it. Sounds prudent but that approach often bombs for emotion-driven people. Before tackling practical projects, they must lift their spirits, for example, by joining a support group, listening to music, exercising, or picturing themselves having achieved their goal. And what if you're part rational, part emotional? Try choosing one from Column A, one from Column B.
