THE Secret to Success?

By Marty Nemko

I'm wary when someone says "Here's the secret to success." But many success gurus urge the same thing. It's summarized in Zig Ziglar's golden rule: "You can have everything in life you want if you'll just help enough other people get what they want." Focus on meeting others' needs and you'll probably be better paid, better liked, and make things better. How do you discover people's needs? Just ask them. Sounds easy but most people are so concerned with themselves that they rarely ask. Zig's rule may also be the secret to a happy marriage, but that's another column.
