Can't come up with a career that floats your boat? Try this:

1. List two things you want in your career. For example, use systems analysis; translate complex ideas into plain English.

2. Come up with a career that incorporates both things, for example, train people in systems analysis.

3. Ask yourself what feels wrong about that career. For example, you're afraid that training might get boring.

4. Propose another career that fixes what's wrong. In our example, perhaps systems analysis consulting to businesses.

5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you've make the career as desirable as you can.
