Why Dropping In Can Land You a Job

By Marty Nemko

Imagine that a stranger phoned you and asked, "I have a baby that needs adopting. Can you help?" Fat chance. But if that same baby were dropped on your doorstep, wouldn't you call around until some agency took the baby? Same principle applies when trying to land a job. It's easy to turn down a phone call, harder to turn down a flesh-and-blood human being. So, job seeker, consider walking in to your dream employers, explaining to the receptionist why you'd love to work there, and asking whether she would suggest someone to talk with who could help you get hired.
